Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

5.21.08

We got up late, forgot to reset the clocks after the utility thing yesterday.

Today will be some indoor work but also some moving and more planting in the Medicinal garden.

I'm waiting for some milk thistle so i can make up some Liver Tonic Tea. We have milk thistle but not enough to start making batches of it. Got to harvest more Dande roots and Nik has to take Ruby the hoe and hoe away some poison ivy. Hoeing is a violent thing but also meditative in an odd way.

We have a Koi Pond but only one goldfish, Archimedes, remains. We had a big Koi, Chewi, but he died suddenly a few months ago. He almost died another time about a year ago but I did CPR and he lived. We had, had him for 3 years. We've had Archimedes for about 7 years and we'll be getting him a new companion very soon. Our Koi Pond is made out of a small swimming pool.

Merry day everyone :)
