Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Rant

Oded is much better this morning, thank you for all the kitten prayers and jujus and other good stuff. I have to get offline and call the vet back in a few minutes to see how soon she can see him this morning. I'm pretty positive his lung isn't punctured but I'm still not sure about his arm. The bite goes through his elbow so the joint could be destroyed. He's going to live tho, and he'll live with us.

The man came last night to kill the raccoon but it stormed all night so he has to come back tonight *~*

We brought all the kits inside in carriers and will continue that each night till they get homes.

I am remaining calm and no one is to blame but please, please everyone, spay and neuter and if you can't keep your animal children find them a home. They are not paper cups or beer cans to be crumpled and thrown aside.

Because of throw aways .... kittens are dead, a kitten is injured, a raccoon is going to be killed for getting food, spirits are suffering and hearts are broken.

I've spent more money on other peoples animals over the last few years then I have spent on my own son and our own animals combined.

I agree Juli. We have had to find homes for so many cats, kittens, dogs and puppies people have set out. Makes me so mad!
Yes, that is whiskers in the photo. He was a kitten of my cat TJ (trouble junior) that passed away several years ago. He was my mom's from a little kitten until she got too ill to take care of him. He came back to live with me and will be here forever. He is 6 years old.

Bless you Juli for having the heart to care for the strays that come your way. We have had so many find their way to us in the few years we have lived here. I remember as a child homeless people comong to our back door for food. Mom would always feed them and Dad would sit down and talk to them so they felt comfortable. My father once told me that when you feed a hobo they mark your house in some way so that any other hobo that happens along will know that they can get food from that house. I think the stray critters have many of us marked too.

Have a good day Juli.
