Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Merry Day of Freedom and Independence !

Today has been a bit lazy, I'm doing some laundry and later will pick some greenbeans and work in the garden a bit. I also have a tea order to get out and the two packages of sample teas to for the festival bags.

Later we'll watch Independence Day and eat chicken salad sandwiches and blueberry pie and this evening we'll lay out on the hammock awhile and watch Gaias fireworks (fireflies).

We don't do fireworks at all. They're terrible pollutants and the noise is much beyond what I can stand. I did used to take Nik to watch the fireworks that the fire department did but even way up on a hill from them the noise was still deafening.

I don't remember many fireworks when I was a kid but we did get those sparklers on metal sticks and burned our hands each year.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and very safe day :)

Ow. I remember those sparklers. And the dangerous things that we boys did with fireworks in the 1970s!
