Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

What a grand day it's been, and there's still more to come :)

The morning started fairly busy, so busy I forgot to eat or make any breakfasts. Thankfully tho Nik did have 1st breakfast. We're just now eating the first meal of the day. Ham N cheddar on fresh bread with herb crackers and tea.

I think we've found Comet and Dragon each good homes. It's not a done deal but I feel very good about both.

We took the 3 male ducks to town to a new a wonderful home with some very nice people. I feel relieved to have them gone and doubly relieved that they'll have such a good life.

I love freecycle ! As Nik pointed out today, it's like bartering and trading in a whole new way. We don't actually trade with the individuals but it still works out that way. In just the last 2 months we given, clothing, books, several boxes of misc., ducks and found homes for some cats. We also received soap and candle making supplies, a mattress for Nik, 2 metal doors and a ton of wonderful canning jars.

Today I've gotten a load of laundry done and hung out and that's about it. After lunch I'm going to get some of the touchups done on the house paint, if it doesn't rain, and then work on the inside for a while.

I hope everyone's having a prosperous day :)

I too enjoy a bit of trading. ie: I give away eggs with no expectations of anything in return and end up with breads and preserves from people. It's lovely. I love the gorgeous blue butterfly that appears when moving over your blog.

Until I about freecycle on your blog I knew nothing about it. I did a web search and found there are two close to us. We got a new woodstove because the old one just isn't efficient enough, so I just posted it on the freecycle. It keeps the area warm, but just burns too much wood in the process. I think it would work for someone to put in a workshop. Thanks Juli for pointing me in that direction.
