We've been getting several eggs each day, thank the great Mother ! And someone has started laying lovely true brown eggs in the nests. I'm starting to think the Buff Orpingtons are laying the whitish eggs because I often see them dust bathing in the area we're finding most of them. I'm so thankful for any eggs right now I don't care what color they are. But I can't wait for the Aracaunas to start laying because green eggs are my favorite :)
Lately I've been making some cat toys to sell. I made some for our cats and they like them so much I decided to see if anyone else wants some too. With organic catnip inside who can resist :) I'm working on a whole line of animal things which will include anti flea cat and small dog beds, natural flea collars for dogs and all natural dog biscuits. As well as an herbal line just for fur folk that I've been working on for a while.
I so wish I could open a small store here in town. And so wish it could be with my sisters. Nik thinks I should get my own TV show on PBS :)
I've applied for some jobs in town, a flea market, a book store and an antique store. I haven't worked for another human in over 8 years and when I did last it was as a caretaker of 11 rescued BLM horses. I can tell them that the horses highly recommend me but ....
Yesterday a banana was wasted, it fell to it's hairy death on the carpet *~* We haven't lost a banana in ages and we were sad to see it go. Funny how economics change you, when I was younger and married and we both worked and the world was a different place we would have laughed about one downed banana. Not so anymore, I was really bummed that Nik didn't get to eat it or it didn't get turned into bread. It won't go to waste, the chickens will eat it but still.
Speaking of Banana Bread..... I just took a loaf from the oven for breakfast. It was made with last weeks bananas. We have a lot of banana bread because they're Niks favorite fruit but they get soft so fast.

~ Simple Banana Bread ~
2 large bananas (or 3 med)
1/3 c butter melted
1 c sugar
1 egg beaten
1 t vanilla
1 t baking soda
pinch of slat
1/2 t cinnamon
1 1/2 c all purpose flour
In large bowl, mash banana and add melted butter, mix well. Ad sugar, beaten egg and vanilla, mixing well. Sprinkle in baking soda, salt and cinnamon and mix. Add flour last and mix one last time. Pour into butter loaf pan and bake at 350 for 50 minutes or until toothpick comes clean.
If you have nuts you can crush some and add just before the flour.
This bread is great for breakfast and makes a nice gift. It's very pretty with a little powdered sugar sprinkled on top.

Speaking of nuts, I'm hoping to be able to pick some walnuts very soon. I haven't been able to find anyone to let us this year but I'm sure someone will.
I was hoping to visit my sister Becca today but wasn't able to make it. Soon tho, I'm sure of it :)
I've had a strange dream twice now. The first time was last week, when I was a bit sick, then again this week a night or two ago.
I'm on a cruise ship (something I would not likely ever do) way out to sea. Something happens and everyone is called on deck, there's a huge bright flaming light in the distance, the size of a huge city. People start screaming and are freaking out a little and then suddenly all power on the ship goes out. Time goes forward and we're still on the ship a month or so later, it's very, very cold. Many people have died, some jumping to their deaths on purpose. Food is low and people are fighting. I'm working in the hospital area with a doctor, two nurses and a Vet that happened to be on board. many people are sick and I'm giving herbal tea to a little girl. Time shifts forward again and someone is crying out that they see land. I don't know how many people had been aboard to start, a full ship, maybe 300 people ? But now there are about 30 or 40. I hear the person calling out and I'm sitting in my room on my bed. I had a small room with 2 twin beds but have taken the beds off their frames and put one mattress and box springs on the floor against a wall with the other mattress and box spring on their sides to enclose the bed with a blanket draped over (my dreams are almost always very detailed, I can sometimes even smell and taste things, even on waking). I dressed and went outside. The ship had run aground and someone was saying they thought it was Greenland. It was cool but not so cold as it had been. The grass was very very green and there were little buildings in disrepair from age but no people. Someone said it had probably been a fishing village. A big guy said we had been at sea much longer then we thought. I remembered that I had some packets of seeds and went to get them, I planned on making a garden right away so that we would have food. Then I woke up.
I hope everyone is doing wonderfully, I miss being able to visit with you guys.

I love stopping by to see how your days are going. Banana bread is my favorite bread of all. I like adding black walnuts to it. Have a nice relaxing day. I think you will do really well with the animal toys and things!
Ooh - Banana Bread is a favorite of mine. Zuchinni Bread too. Sorry for the troubles with the online service, but I'm thankful that you can get online for a few moments to check in. The dog and cat items look really neat. And send my thanks to the chickens for giving you eggs!

Your banana bread looks wonderful. It's one of my favorites as well. Happy to hear that your hens are giving you eggs. Hope things work out for you, they usually do in the end. I think the cat toys, etc. is a great idea. My cats go mad for the catnip I grow, organically as well.
