Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

The sun is up and bright but, it's only 10 deg out. No matter tho, warmer days are on the way.

My dear friend Slo sent me the wonderful gift of the Tassajara Bread Book. Overnight it became my favorite cookbook. I like cooking a lot but I looove baking :)

Yesterday, from the book, i made Butter Kuchen for breakfast but added lemon and made a lemon glaze for the top. We shared some and had it this morning as well. It didn't last long at all :)

I'm hoping to get some blue cornmeal when we go into Springfield to get canvases, so i can make some blue corn muffins.

I have two fruit pies baking right now. One apple and one blueberry.

And speaking of canvases .... I have 4 commissioned pieces to paint and the art gallery in Washington has requested 2 to 3 more pieces as well :) :) :)

It was bloody cold when we went out to feed, the cat water on the porch froze again 15 or so minutes after we refilled it.

I'm off to get the pies from the oven. Warm, prosperous day all !
