Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

3.17.09

When I wake each morning and open the curtain to let in the day the first thing I always see is the forest. This morning it greeted me aglow with bright fresh sunlight, garlanded with the smoke of someone's early morning fire. It's like being a part of the past, present and future all in one breath.

We got some much needed rain last week. Not quite enough but I'm still very grateful for it.

March seemed to start with some odd negative energy. I have no idea from what or where but it seemed to creep into all kinds of places and affect many different people. There were little conflicts popping up all over the place and I even noticed discord among the feral cats that they're usually much to lazy to display. Anyway, it seems to have passed now and I'm glad of it.

The numbers seem to have slowed down a bit tho I still keep a record of them. Because I find it interesting more then anything else right now.
11:11 last Tues.
11:11 wed.

11:11 & 1:11 Sunday

I made up some new tea blends. I think I posted them on the herbal blog, I need to double check tho and I need to list them on the website.

I also finished the 3rd of the 3 commissioned paintings (Wild Gaia, Cave Prayer & Time Traveler) and am almost finished with another for a different client. I'll go list them on the art blog when I finish here.

It's to be almost 80 for the next few days and I have tons that i would like to get done outside. The seedlings I planted last month are doing well for the most part. most are around an inch tall but the peppers and sage are almost 3 inches tall. I also got 8 types of heirloom tomatoes started as well as some heirloom bush beans and acorn squash. I also started a few nasturtiums tho they may not transplant well.

Sunday was interesting, We had gone to the market and Nik had gotten some root beer, when we got home he opened one chugged about half of it, which I bloody well told him not to do, then he walked into the living room and passed out ! Aside from grazing his eye on my dresser when he fell, he was otherwise unhurt. He ate well and I checked on him every few minutes throughout the day and all seems well. I think it was actually the bloody hot pop tho I am getting him in to the doctor to be sure. I want his blood checked.

Another interesting thing that day was a cyborg cowboy we saw at the market. He got out of a truck dressed all in new, very nice and expensive looking clothes. Western shirt with pearl snaps, new levi jeans, oiled long rider coat, stetson hat, exotic dead animal boots and ........ a bluetooth stuck in his ear ! It was kind of cool really, it reminded me of Firefly, western sci-fi :)

Now I'm off to hang out some sheets.

Merry day :)

We are finally having a day without rain. Its very muddy and messy but I am going out and enjoy the day. Give Nik a hug and a good report from the doc.
