Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Merry Summer Solstice !

I saw the honeyman again at the grocers :) He was very nice to me. I asked him for root beer, I'm pretty sure we needed root beer :) I apologized because he had to go and find some but he said he was glad I asked. He may have just been being nice but I think he may have really been glad I asked. That was 3 days ago and I'm still smiling.

In the past, one of two things would now happen... I date him and he turns out to be a sociopath or, I dump him and go find a sociopath. And that's why I don't date. Or rather, that's why I haven't dated in the almost 10 years I've been single. But things do change :)

Anyway ... I've been very busy lately, gardens, teas, animals, clients, baking and on and on all things I love and enjoy doing tho, for the most part.
I made breakfast bowls the other morning, crisp tortillas filled with eggs, ham, onions, peppers cheese and topped with fresh tomatoes. They were very good !

It's been very hot here, one of the hottest springs I ever remember. 90's every day this week with fairly high humidity each day. 15 minutes out and our shirts are soaked. We get the outside work done in the morning or early evening. All the animals have plenty of shade but I still feel bad for them. Mainly juniper, I wish she had a lot more room. She will eventually but she needs it now.

The chickens and ducks haven't been laying as well but we still get at least 6 eggs a day from 10 hens and usually at least 2 eggs from 3 ducks. We have such good poultry people :)

Also, I'm not going to mention any names but, some of us may have issues.

Now I'm off to do a bit of reading.

the story about the honeyman makes me smile. :-) funny rationale for not dating. seems like it *is* always something when it comes to getting involved with the opposite sex. oh, but when it's good, it's amazing!! (i know that "smiling a few days later" feeling very well :-D )

the cat in the bowl is too cute.
