The world is quiet tonight, except for the sounds of the fierce wind blowing outside, the occasional crackle of the fire in the stove and a lone dog barking off in the distance.
The house is filled with the scents of woodsmoke and cinnamon from the last of the days work. The Burrow is happy and at peace.
I'll wash up before the fire dies and then crawl in between flannel sheets and piles of cats to dream of high adventure and Spring gardens.
In the morning, Nik will rise sleepy eyed, to find a few wonderful gifts under the tree, wrapped in fabric and newspaper. Breakfast will be fresh cinnamon bread toast with butter and apples. And a large cup of very hot coffee for me :)
I'll light a new fire and we'll spend the day marveling at how very blessed we are. We'll say "Happy Birthday" and "Thank You So Much ! ".
We'll have our feast of ham and potatoes and other wonderful things, and we'll take apples to the goats and rabbit and chickens, meat broth to the cats and meat broth and bones to the dogs. We'll all end the day with large bellies and smiling faces.
I can quit imagine this life in another place and time and yet, when I think of this place and this time, I can clearly see that I am right where I belong.
Merry Christmas my Sisters & Brothers :)
