Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Saturday was Peppers' ( my younger sister) birthday. But when I called her phone had been turned off. I hope all is well. I know you won't see this but ...
Happy Birthday (((((((((((Pepper)))))))))))))) I love you so much!

The day is beautiful! Not to hot with a gentle breeze. the humidity must be low, it feels wonderful, a perfect day to work outside. But I find myself inside most of the day, working on my book. I was worried it might be difficult to write or that I would have to make myself work on it, but that hasn't been the case. It flows out, almost constantly. I have to take breaks from regular chores to write stuff down. So many little stories to tell, each one seems like a lifetime in itself.

The reason for not posting more of it here is because I intend and hope to have it published. It's important to me to do that. Almost as important to me as writing it. I've intended to write it and have it published since I was in my teens. Back then and for many years the title in my head was "The Atrocities of Childhood". But things change and that includes perceptions, being able to see things differently and we learn and grow.

Eventually I plan to also write "The Adventures of Pepper & Juli". Just about life in our own little world, kind of like the Secret Garden with a lot more danger :) but the main story had to come first, it's waited so long.

I haven't looked into the actual publishing part yet. Maybe I should, maybe someone would think it was worth investing in, or however that works.

Anyway, the days continues on here.

What I posted about the 3's before was wrong. We've now also lost a rooster who had been stepped on by poor Anya. I thought he was ok but he must have had internal injuries.

Everyone else seems to be doing very well. Still only an egg a day but at least we get that egg.

I usually cook almost entirely from scratch but when we get the Blazer running again I intend to get some fast food. Fast food for us means pre-made bread and cookies and stuff from the grocery store. frozen food like pizza count as well. We do also eat at McDonald type place on occasions but we call that "eating out".

I do make fast foods and freeze them but I haven't made any in a while. We ate the last frozen quiche weeks ago. Store fast food isn't as good as homemade fast food but it will leave me a lot more time to write.

I just LOVE your notion of fast food. We do most of our cooking from scratch too, and by we I mean ME. :o) But when it gets hot in the summer, I usually buy my bread from the store.
