Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

A friend has told me about Rhubarb gravy on biscuits. It sounded very strange at first but when I thought about it, it sounded kind of like mini cobblers and I intend to try it soon.

She uses leftover cooked rhubarb from canning, melts butter and add flour just like making gravy, then adds a cup of rhubarb and about 2 cups of the sweetened juice. And adds that you could do it with any sweetened fruit with a lot of juice. Thank you Corky !

I was up all night working on the bloody website and not even half way done. It's still at tripod because I was to lazy to hunt for a new place that's in my price and easy to use. Now you can go to OzarkGypsyArt.com or HealingHouseTeas.com and get to the same place. If I can just finish said place all will be well :)

I don't know if it's supposed to rain today, it's rained a bit every day for the last 6 days or so. It looks like rain now. I got all the spinach in. half is frozen and the rest will be dried.

in just a few days the weed folk moved in and took over the spinach row, which will shortly be the potato row.

The ducks are actually pig with feathers, they even wallow *o* our other duck, Clover (Mother rest her) never did that but she was a different kind.

It looks like 3 have gaps in the tails and 3 don't so the ones with gaps may get the curled boy feather and those I'll give to a neighbor. Hopefully 3 won't be as messy ! I may bring up the old (falling apart) chicken tractor for them to live in. They're big enough now to free range in the day but we can't let them in and out and keep the chicks in.

The chicks have gotten quite big. I'll try to remember to take pictures today. still 9 Buffs, 5 Rocks and 5 Reds. The Rocks are not the biggest but I think the Reds are younger and will outgrow them. I read up on them all and the Reds should get quit tall and large, and more red.

Another cat has shown up with babies. She's very calm and used to humans so probably recently dumped. she has at least 4 babies, maybe 4 weeks old. She actually showed up here a few days ago but then showed up again this morning with the babes.

I wonder what people think will happen to the cats they dump here. I wonder if they just assume we'll feed them because there are so many already? do they think we're rich with our broken down car and tiny gardens ? or do they just not care at all ?

I think in part it comes from the ignorance of feeling like they're are somehow a superior lifeform. The ignorance of believing they can own another being therefor they can do with it what they want, throw it away, torture it, kill it.

I've been owned, thrown away, tortured and almost killed. When their Karma returns to them, maybe only a cat will be there to comfort them.

And now I will go meditate on understanding and peace :)

Merry day all!
