Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

6.24.08

What a beautiful day. The chicks and ducks are out doing chick and duck things, the green things are oh so green and the garden is bursting with life :)

Little tomatoes, peppers, corn silks, green beans. I'm making potting soil in the herb garden so that when we dig the bed for the greenhouse I can use the soil we move for planting in the greenhouse.

Yesterday for supper we had burgers on fresh homemade wheat bread with garden onion, peppers and lettuce and homemade mayo. Also some potato wedges, beans and spice tea. And for dessert, some freshly baked peanutbutter chocolate chip cookies.

Oded is better by the day. I wasn't able to take him in yesterday because the Vet was flooded in and couldn't make it to the clinic. We'll see today. I would still like to have him X-rayed to make sure nothing is broken but it's oddly difficult to get enything done these days. It seems like the tiniest things turn into long drawn out shindigs.

Anyway ...

I'm looking for someone local to get fresh goat milk from. Nik doesn't think he'll ever like it or be able to drink it but I think he will if we can get fresh milk and get used to it.

But for now I'm off to work in the gardens and take Oded out for some sun :)

Tell Nik that my grandkids said the same thing. I gave them a small glass of store bought milk and a small glass of cold goat milk and ask them to tell me which was which. 7 out of 9 picked the goats milk as store bought. My daughters and son in laws can't tell the difference either. Give him the taste test and bet he likes it too.

I'm glad to hear that things have calmed down around you. It never fails, when it rains it always seems to poor where difficulties are concerned.

Hope Oded continues to mend.
