For first breakfast I'm having iced cappuccino and potato and macaroni salad.
Yesterday we got a lot of running done, a trip to get paint and supplies for painting the house and a later trip to the feedstore to get the months feeds and some hay.
3 bags of chicken food (1 - chops, 1 poultry grains, 1 non-medicated chick crumble, all mixed together), this amount used to last 3 months or a little more, for around 20 hens who free range all day.
With the ducks I expect it to last 2 months if we're lucky. 6 ducks eat every bit as much as 20 hens do. I listed them for sale and have had several people interested so maybe they'll go to new homes soon.
The prices of feed have, of course, gone up. I used to pay around 7.00 a bag for chops and it's 10.80 now. It used to be less expensive than poultry grains but now it's almost 2.00 more.
I only buy chick crumble when we have chicks, otherwise I buy chops but now the crumble is the same price as chops *o*
I'm not sure how much we'll get done today but the list is ...
*laundry,
*vacuum (which I can do because Nik fixed the vacuum Ü ),
*build a 5x3 moveable chickpen,
*clean out the henhouse,
*wash the outside of the Burrow to prepare for painting,
*double check the scraping,
*Tend a sick cat and kittens (who are doing wonderfully!)
*check the insurance on the truck (the only thing I don't want to do because it involves talking on the phone, which I loath),
*get two tea orders out.
Later we're going to have BBQ burgers on homemade buns with watermelon for dessert :)
and now I'm off to start the laundry so it's ready to hang out as soon as the sun rises in about an hour.

You certainly are fortunate to have a handy young man around that can fix things.
I noticed your list had call about the insurance toward the bottom of it... I giggled when I saw it listed that way and out right laughed when you said you don't like talking on the phone. JD and I try to out wait each other when it comes to talking on the phone. JD doesn't like it because his hearing isn't very good. I just don't like it.
It seems as though I have seen a LaMancha goat before, but can't recall where ar even when. Probably in another life time.
We live 30 minutes by truck from anywhere in any direction. Gas is so expencesive now, that we wait until we absolutely have to go and try to consolidate as much as we can into that trip. It often means that we will be away from home most of the day(which i like to do as much as talk on the phone), but it is saving the money that the gas tank would be eating.

I can't wait to hear how that to-do list came out! (Okay, I know how a lot of it came out already ...) You're sure getting right to it this season - all these huge projects, plus painting the house - which is a GIANT project. You are very lucky to have such an able and willing assistant. I'll be thinking of you and those burgers!
