Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Another very busy day. Hot and fairly humid, they said we would have rain but it hasn't arrived yet.

Yesterday we began cleaning out the cabin, one side is rented to a man but the other side is full of stuff. The man was only supposed to be temporary but he's been there almost 4 years and I don't think he's going to be moving soon. So we're cleaning out our side to give him more room.

Originally the cabin was going to be my studio but things didn't work as planned and we ended up renting to this guy who was temporarily homeless and jobless. He has a good job now tho and is doing much better.

The cabin is tiny with 2 rooms and an unfinished bathroom. We've been working on cleaning out the room we have stored stuff in so that he'll have more room.

Freecycle has been wonderful for helping us get rid of things we no longer need or use and give them to others who do need and want them. Yesterday a very nice woman came and got several boxes of stuff and today we delivered several boxes of clothing Nik and I did need anymore. It's a very good thing :)

Today I also found out that ducks eat Hens-n-chicks They wiped our both of my planters and those Hens-n-chicks came from the ones my grandmother has had for ages. I was so mad at those bloody ducks. The kitten had done enough damage biting the leaves and writhing on them ... I was hoping they would get big enough this year to harvest a few for eating. Bloody, bloody ducks. *~*

This evening I got 7 of the kittens bathed and they're all ready to start finding new homes :) I've listed two, Mew and Sam, now I need to list Wicket, Creature, Milo, Rivie and Tig. Then there are 3 more who aren't old enough yet. And Oded who's staying with us and couldn't get a bath today because of his wound. Which is almost completely healed up :) There are also 3 other kittens who are still to wild to get homes Three and Betty, and one to wild to even pick up without gloves, Diablo.
