Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

7.7.08 Evening

It's 6pm and I'm sooo tired. I was up around 2am, took a nap midmorning and still tired now.

I've been having to get up and feed 3 kittens every 4 hours for the last few days. The Mother, Mojo, is alive but very ill, I've been treating her outside and caring for her kittens inside. Mojo was actually born here last year to one of the feral cats and I didn't get her spayed in time. If I ever win a million dollars most of it will go to getting cats spayed and neutered.

I don't believe another cat or dog of any pedigree should be born until every cat and dog alive has a home and is properly cared for.

Oded is doing wonderfully and almost completely healed. The wounds are all healed up and he has only a tiny limp which I believe will fade with time. The Vet didn't know what the lump is but it's much smaller and may have been a little infection. He's past his 10 day quarantine and I've returned him to his siblings, they'll start getting listed next week. I had originally said that Oded would stay with us but for each one we keep that's one more I might have to turn away and our cats stay inside and our house is so small. I have to think on it all before deciding for sure.

Apollo is fitting in perfectly and bonding with everyone :)

I finished a Juju doll I've been working on for some time now. I've been waiting for something I knew it needed but didn't know what it was. the other day while cleaning out the cabin room I came across it :) and was able to finish it ! The Transitioner

I still have 4 more books to mail out for PaperBackBookSwap , 3 tea orders to make up and get out, soap to make, laundry to do and supper to get *o* I'm running behind for the day and for the week. But it's not nearly as bad as it sounds :) I always make time to stop and listen, to day dream and to simply be.

Bless your heart Juli. I think it is wonderful the way you take in the ferals, care for them and find homes for them. I agree with you completely about every cat and dog having a home. Yet still people are dumping the poor things along the road every where you look.

We saw one that had been dumped because of the way he acted (scared and confused)right along a very busy road. I don't understand these people and cold and cruel they can be to a defenseless animal. JD stopped the truck and got out to try and get the dog to bring home with us.. He wouldn't come to him.

Thank you for your visits, Juli and your sweet comments.
