Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

10.04.08

The morning chores are all done, time was spent contemplating the universe over a cup of coffee, a painting finished and lunch started.

It may rain today, I'm not sure but I hope it does, we need it.

We gathered 3 eggs this morning :) We're having the joy of needing to gather eggs twice a day, something we've not had to do in a very long time. It's a wonderful thing !

The first post today was just me rambling on to myself. And yes, I do indeed answer back.

The painting finished is, The Country House. I finished it yesterday but I had added little curtains on the second floor windows and wasn't at all happy with them so I took them down this morning for a better view :)

. The Country House

Dinner is smoked sausage (like keilbasa) with lemon-pepper rice, green beans, homemade bread and fresh mint tea on ice. We'll probably have the last of the carrot cake later for dessert with some hot chocolate for Nik and some Irish cream n coffee for me.

If it doesn't rain, or if we get to it in time, we'll work on preparing more firewood. I also need to bring in the Elephant Ears for the winter. I store the bulbs under the kitchen sink in a little dirt in a container that can breath.

Otherwise I intend to muck around a bit, sew, read and maybe watch Daniel Deronda
