Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Rain ! I tiny bit but it was still good. It rained lightly thru the night and we've had a few sprinkles this morning. I'm still hopeful for more but we'll get what we get and deal with what we must.

I've had possibly the worst allergies I've ever had in my life the last few days. Or a very short lived upper respiratory infection, I'm really not sure which. It started out like allergies, quickly turned into a sinus thing which promptly something worse. Thankfully I think it's only lasted a few days and tho I have a very bad cough today, the rest is so much better.

Yesterday I spent most of the day on the futon reading. So besides a little laundry not much got done. The day before was very prosperous tho, I got the screen replaced on the second large window and the guy came to clean tho chimney. He always asks if we burned much wood because it's never very dirty. We don't actually burn much and when we do I try and make sure it's very dry wood, no wik or green at all. We also got another guy to give that little piece on the house a second coat. The little strip we couldn't reach and there's no place for a ladder.

Also that day, Sunday I think, I was given some very cool things from a very nice woman. A huge, very old, triple loaf bread pan. I have seen one once before I think But I didn't know what it was when I saw it. I think it's from a professional bakery but I intend to put it to good use. She also gave me a huge deep pie pan. The biggest one I've ever seen tho I have seen pies that must have been baked in one that size. And, several little booklets on raising goats for food and milk, one on rabbits and one on geese. Thank you Babs !!!

This morning we got 6 eggs ! 6 :) 3 brown 3 whitish. It feels like Christmas every time we fond one. I've had many people ask me if I've ever had chickens before :) The fact is, we've had hens for years and I've always felt the same way. But this year we have more then we've ever had before except when we've had chicks and some of those are always given away or traded and some have died ((((((poor things))))))))

Later today we'll be taking cartons of gift eggs to our two best customers to let them know we're ready to sell eggs again :) :) :)

I hope everyone has a very prosperous day

oooh, that looks like a very fine pie pan. I've never seen a triple bread pan before, didn't know they even existed. What lovely gifts. The eggs look wonderful.
