Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Looking for additional employment/income

I'm looking for additional employment/income. If anyone has any ideas or knows anyone that might, I would greatly appreciate it. My current income is dwindling fast, art sales are almost non-existent and I give away more herbals than I sell. I need to find one or two new jobs quickly that I can do from home between milking goats and baking bread. I would prefer long term jobs but temporary would be great help. I've already approached a couple of magazines and card companies and I'll continue to search them out but I thought that maybe someone might have an idea or something as well. Right now I'm looking to do the following or similar.

writing a regular article or piece for a magazine or website (herbals, frugality, simple living, odd Zen advice, etc).

proof reading, I have no professional experience but I find mistakes in previously proofread materiel often and have a good eye for that sort of thing.

writing sentiments and artwork for greeting cards

Juli, I have made a few dollars on Helium.com writing web articles on all kinds of subjects. They have quite a few different options available to earn money by writing -- so please check it out. They pay monthly based on the number of clicks on your article. Good luck!

Have you considered selling your herbals and maybe other crafts on Etsy.com? They are like a homemade Ebay and only take 3% of the selling price (so if you put something on sale, you only pay 3% of the sale price, not its original price). It is only 10 cents a listing and you get 5 pictures per listing. They even highlight the sellers who have been able to quit their day job to devote more time to their Etsy shops! I hope it helps :)

I was actually going to write for Helium awhile but had forgotten it, thank you :)

I've been selling on Etsy for years now HealingHouse.etsy.com and OzarkGypsyArt.etsy.com but sales fell off so bad this year I kind of gave up for a while. Working toward opening both shops again now tho :)
