Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

It looks a lot like Home

We got the last load on Friday. I had to leave some things but they are a small price to be done moving and Hopefully, done with the house guy. I told some of the neighbors they could have the last things and I hope they're able to get them. Either way, I am quite done.

We spent all day yesterday and today working on the barn and unloading the last trailer load. We didn't quite finish the unloading but it's tarped well and I think it will be fine for a few days of wet winter weather.

I also got the last of the laundry washed, hung out and mostly dry. We had over two weeks worth but completely caught up now.

This evening I've been refilling water jugs for storage, finding places for things, unpacking a few boxes here and there and organizing other things.

We met a human neighbor yesterday evening. Very nice guy who even offered to help us. Folks don't do that much anymore. I don't think they're mean or thoughtless, I think they're scared. People just seem kind of scared of everything. I can't quite explain it. Anyway, when we get things settled more I'll bake some breads and drop by. It's not that I'm friendly or like company, I'm not friendly at all and could surely live on a completely uninhabited island in bliss. But sometimes it's important to offer your hand, even if you don't like being touched.

We're so tired supper is a large sweet potato each and they should be just about done :)

Juli, it is so great to hear that your move is finally completed. Just in time, too, with the big winter storm coming.
