Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

update

Nik is much improved today. His neck is very swollen but his throat remained fine. His fever hit 102.9 at 9:43pm last evening but was kept down with tylenol and feverfew. At 6:16 this morning it was 98.4 (his normal) after 6 hours without anything for fever. The neck swelling is bad but has also gone down some. His lymph nodes and glands are filtering the toxins. Thank you ((((((((everyone))))))))) for the prayers and good jujus!!! Several people suggested brown recluse. It definitely is not a recluse bite but I can't say what it was otherwise. As for doctors not treating for free ... I'm quite sure they would not treat for free since we were turned away with money to pay for the visit. I don't know how much the visit would have cost but I am fairly certain I had more than enough to cover it. Money was never in question and was never even considered by the doctor. There were 3 other cars outside, likely the doctor, the receptionist and the one patient I saw waiting. So it's not likely we were turned away because he was overly busy. In fact, the receptionist said something about the doctor ... not being able to do blood tests, not being able to treat for dehydration???? and not having any way to tell if it was a spider bite.... She wasn't gone very long at all and didn't seem like he would have had time to use all those excuses but who knows. The only thing I'm very certain of is that, we were definitely not turned away for lack of money. Lack of insurance maybe, but not unable to pay for an office visit in cash. There was a sign stating that "all self paying patients must pay in full at time of visit" That was never in question and money was never brought up. Regardless, I wish no bad thing for him and if I saw him in need I would not hesitate to help in any way I could. A distant second to Nik's improving is that we got ((((((((rain)))))))))))). Glorious pouring, storming, soaking rain. It started yesterday evening and went most of the night. It knocked out power around 5pm or so and came back on around midnight. Also, a friend emailed to say that mercury has been retrograde and will be going direct this coming Wednesday. Maybe lighten things up a bit, that and the rain.
