Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

Morning everyone :)

It's 5:09am and very muggy out, as long as you hold still you're ok but if you move at all you begin to sweat. I lit some incense and the smoke just hung in the air, like a smoke scarf on an invisible dancer. Under certain circumstances it would be erotic but, under certain circumstances almost anything could be.

I haven't gotten to much done this morning, 2 loads of laundry and fed the cats some garlic Yum.

There was a huge brown spider on the porch, I believe it was a Wood spider, Nik and I are both freaked out by all spiders (Nik even more so then me) but we never kill them unless we feel we have to. We would never kill someone just because they're different or creepy. But sadly, this one got killed. I was trying to get it away from the door with a rake, trying to get it on the rake so i could take it off the porch but I accidentally raked it and killed it. Poor thing

Later a friend is going to go pick up some things from a sale for me. A small pantry cabinet and a canning pot with a 12 quart rack. I have a smaller canning pot but I lost the rack when we moved here, I've just used it as a double boiler for wax and as a wash pan ever since. I've never really canned much (I dry everything and freeze some) but I intend to start canning as well.

I'm trying to find another source for gallon glass jars as well so I can make up some large amounts of a couple of special teas and store them. Ojibwa and Resurrection Teas mainly.

Last evening we watched National Treasure 2 and ate chicken salad and apples. It was pretty good and Nik loved it :)

I'm loving Paperbackswap.com I've only been on it 2 months or so and already gotten 3 books we were having a hard time finding. Nik's an avid reader (Thankfully) so he appreciates it as much as I do. To start, I had several novels and he had several outgrown homeschool books to list. It's worked out wonderfully so far and we each average two new books a month.

Today is a bit of a hard day for me. It's my oldest son's birthday, he would be 26 today.

Each day is so important. The tiniest kindness worth so much. I have always believed that a simple smile could change the world, today I am reminded of the truth in that.

Well, the sun is coming up so we'll have some more chores to get done. Blessed day everyone :)

I hope you are having a wonderful day Juli. I love stopping by and reading about you and your part of the world. Hopefully one day we will meet in person.
