Back in for dinner, cheese sandwiches on rosemary bread with pomegranate tea.
It's looking stormy outside and tho it's not hot at all the humidity is thick and sticky.
We got some firewood stacked, gathered some more kindling and raked some wood debris. Can't work on the henhouse because the wood is to wet but I'm glad we could get a little outside work done.
Unless I have some large sales, we won't be doing any more shopping for at least a few weeks, except milk and catfood. The wild cats eat so much, I wish they could all find a home. I tell them every day to go get themselves spayed and neutered and find homes but they just don't listen.
I'll be working on the menu for the next two weeks which I strangely take pleasure in. Our inventory is ...
1 whole chicken
8 chicken breasts
1/4 lb of ground beef
2 cans corn
2 cans peas
2 cans green beans
red beans
rice
potatoes
small amount of pasta
oatmeal
medium block of cheddar
eggs
milk
1 lg can pineapple
4 bananas
1 can cranberries
peanut butter
jam
2 loaves of bakery bread
1 box bread machine bread
1 lg bag of cold cereal
pop
juice
tea
coffee
add the regulars ... bisquick, flour, cornmeal, sugar etc.
Now the fun part, taking all that and figuring out as many good meals as I can, which we then choose from each day.
Today is leftover day.
Tomorrow will be, cold cereal and 1/2 banana for breakfast. Roast chicken with mashed potatoes, corn and bread for dinner. Chicken sandwiches for supper.
Then we'll see what I can come up with.
I'm so easily amused :)

we use a lot of cat food. there are a couple of barns around and we feed semi-feral cats. we've had some fixed but the way they come and go... we just can't afford the vet bills. we do put out food twice a day and make sure there is always clean water. many of the cats hang around us for companionship but won't let us close enough to touch. at this time we're have around 20-25 that are really 'ours' :) because our home is their sanctuary.
I know how hard it must be to look after all the homeless cats. I have six cats and they go through lots of food. Last year one of the older cats had to have a tooth pulled and it cost almost $400. Honestly, I could have had half my teeth pulled for that amount, lol.
I can relate to how you plan your menus. I've been doing a similar thing for years. It's amazing what great meals one can make with little ingredients.
