Wild Moon Cottage is a small working homestead in the pristine Ozark Mountains. We have dairy goats, poultry, organic herb and vegetable gardens, a start of a tiny fruit orchard, several black walnut trees, wild berries and fields of wildcrafting goodness. We raise our own milk, our own eggs, much of our own medicine and food. I do laundry by hand, make my own vinegar, candles, soap, bread, cheese ........ For a living I am an artist and herbalist. My goal for myself and our homestead is to be as self sufficient and self sustaining as possible.

9:00am and a wonderfully chilly morning :) Right at 50 deg on the porch last time I looked. Creatures are fed, chickens and ducks run amuck thru the yard and here I sit with a shawl and a hot cup o' coffee.

It's supposed to be wonderful weather for the next few days and I hope to get a lot done this week. We'll have to wait at least a day for the wood try dry enough to work on the henhouse but we have plenty to get done besides.

The seasons have seemed to speed up a bit this year.

Yesterday, with the electric off so much, I painted by candlelight. It came out very simply but I like it very much.

I went thru and organized some fabric and found several pieces I think I'll use to make a patchwork skirt.

Today we'll feast on leftovers, stack firewood, bake and do a bit a laundry. I have a couple of tea orders to get out and a painting I want to finish. I'm also painting a cool old wooden box :)

Merry day everyone !

I'm also finding that the seasons are going by fast this year. Yesterday I was thinking that there is so much I have to do before winter settles in and I had better get at it soon.
